Cloudless Sulphur
Phoebis sennae

Observation date: December 21, 2014
Submitted by: Ralph S. Carlson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The temperature was 61 degrees this sunny afternoon. For weeks, yellow butterflies have been sighted, but always flying very quickly with very few, brief stops on leaves or twigs. With lower temperature, this and two other individuals fluttered more slowly and stopped frequently to feed and/or sun themselves. Wings were always vertical during the feeding or sunning stops.
