Observation notes: winter and summer form sitting side by side on the first day, of winter or the last of fall? dec 21 about mid day, overcast sky cool high mid sixties. lots of different varieties of mesquite trees. Mostly covered in mistletoe, steady die off of these trees has led to the addition of palo verde for shade trees in campground. The surrounding valley is loaded with mesquite trees for miles up the valley. We saw great purple hs, painted lady, ceraunus blue, and leda this trip, also a dusky we could not id. cacti scrub rolling hills leading to desert mountains and cuyamaca Mt, laguna area. extremely diverse area. Great book on area's plants and butterflies is Butterflies & there favorite flowering plants. by Lynn & Gene Monroe if you see them tell them we LOVE THERE BOOK !
