Observation date: November 26, 2014
Submitted by: EvHumphries
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It had been rainy and cold for about a week, but the last few days highs have ranged from 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. We were outside gardening and noticed the caterpillar was crawling across fresh dirt, and headed towards our monkey grass. We looked it up, saw that one of it's hosts is Hackberry, and moved it to the hackberry tree in our backyard. It immediately started climbing it, going straight up.
Status: Resident

Verified date: November 26, 2014
Coordinator notes: The caterpillar may have been looking for a place to spin its cocoon. This is often on the ground among leaves.
