Imperial moth
Eacles imperialis

Observation date: September 23, 2014
Submitted by: pdhahn
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moth was weakly flapping on the ground near a Locquat tree in my back yard when I saw it (daytime, approx. noon). I moved it to a small table where it deposited its eggs (line of yellow dots near the moth visible in second photo) overnight, then expired. The first picture was taken after the moth expired. The weather was warm and sunny when I saw the moth on the ground. It had rained heavily for several of the preceding days.
