Green Comma
Polygonia faunus

Observation date: September 07, 2014
Submitted by: Vickie
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Butterfly was perhaps feeding on minerals on the ground in our campsite, occasionally opening and closing wings, on a sunny day with a temperature of about 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We were about 60 yards west of Trillium Lake, elevation 3600 feet, surrounded by red cedar, Alders, Trilliums not blooming anymore, and I don't know the names of the rest of the plants. Besides this species, there were several Mourning Cloaks around.
