Observation notes: All three photos are of separate caterpillars in my yard, on the same plant. Don't know what kind of plant, it's a perennial wild flower, semi woody. The caterpillars eat the pods left after the blooms have dried and fallen off. A few days ago there were about a dozen on the plant. Now only a few, maybe the birds found them or they have started to cocoon.
