Virginia creeper sphinx
Darapsa myron

Observation date: August 28, 2014
Submitted by: umoth24
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Looked at your photo gallery, but none appeared to have the ridge on the side like the one I found on a wild muscadine vine. Most of the leaves had been eaten and the caterpillar stayed on the piece of vine even though I placed the cut vine onto other plants. Didn't seem interested in moving to a different plant, but did wave its head around when I turned the vine over. Second photo was is also of same caterpillar, but was taken in full sun.
