Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio glaucus

Observation date: August 22, 2014
Submitted by: kolsh001
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It was a sunny, calm morning with some clouds. The tiger swallowtail was drinking nectar from the Mexican sunflowers, and it stayed a long time around 25 minutes. During that time, there was a giant swallowtail, a type of sulphur, and a black swallowtail. They took turns with the flowers. At one point, the giant swallowtail swooped towards the tiger swallowtail and they twirled around each other for a second before going separate ways. The black swallowtail and the sulphur didn't stick around for more than a minute.
