Observation notes: This moth was found in central Illinois on a utility pole. I was working on the pole so I gently removed the moth so as not to accidentally injure it. It flexed it's wings but never flew off as I would have expected. I placed him back on the pole when I was done working. I've never come across a moth as large as this before.
